An international advocacy organisation, Gravitas Group, has condemned the appointment of Ahmed Halilu as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company Plc.
The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), had reportedly appointed Halilu as the substantive MD of the company following the resignation of the former MD, Abbas Masanawa.
In a statement on Saturday by its Convener, Tola Adeniyi, and its Communications Director, Prof. Olugbenga Ayeni, the group alleged that Salihu was a relation to the wife of the President.
The statement read in part, “It was worrisome that the President’s brother-in-law would superintend over the printing of all sensitive materials in the land, a development it said was tantamount to bringing the country’s Mint to his bedroom.”
