A man suspected to be linked to the Boko Haram insurgent group has made disturbing confessions after his arrest by security forces in northeastern Nigeria, revealing that he was financially induced to carry out attacks on places of worship in Maiduguri.
The suspect, identified as Ibrahim Mohammed, was apprehended by troops of Operation Hadin Kai working alongside local hunters in Yobe State. During questioning, he reportedly admitted that he had been recruited and paid to participate in deadly operations targeting Muslim worshippers in Borno State’s capital.
According to information made public from his interrogation, Ibrahim claimed responsibility for the December 24 attack at the Gamboru Market Mosque in Maiduguri. He said the mission was coordinated by Boko Haram commanders operating across parts of Adamawa State and the Mandara Mountain region.
The suspect stated that he was sent to Maiduguri from Michika, Adamawa State, under the instructions of senior figures within the group. He alleged that explosives were provided by the commanders and that specific targets were selected by the terror network.
