President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm greetings to Muslims in Nigeria and across the world on the occasion of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration, urging citizens to embrace sacrifice, unity, compassion, and faith as the nation continues its journey of economic recovery and national renewal.
In a personally signed Eid-el-Kabir message released by the State House on Tuesday, the President said the Islamic festival serves as a reminder of the enduring virtues demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim, particularly faith, obedience, and willingness to sacrifice for a higher purpose.
Tinubu noted that the festival should inspire Nigerians to show mercy and compassion to one another regardless of ethnic, religious, or social differences.
“Eid-el-Kabir reminds us of the enduring virtues exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim—faith, obedience, and the willingness to sacrifice for a higher purpose,” the President stated.
Reflecting on the country’s economic situation, Tinubu defended the reforms introduced by his administration, describing them as difficult but necessary steps aimed at rebuilding the nation and securing a prosperous future for coming generations.
According to him, the sacrifices made by Nigerians and the government over the past three years are beginning to yield positive results, including a more stable economy and increased investor confidence.
“The walk through the dark tunnel is over, and the light is here,” the President declared, expressing optimism that ongoing reforms would continue to improve security and create more opportunities for citizens.
The President also addressed the country’s lingering security challenges, acknowledging that terrorists and bandits still carry out attacks in some communities despite intensified operations by security agencies.
He disclosed that security forces recently eliminated a wanted ISIS leader, while assuring affected communities that the Federal Government remained committed to defeating all criminal elements threatening the nation’s peace and stability.
“I assure you: you are neither abandoned nor forgotten. We will ultimately defeat all the forces of evil,” Tinubu said.
Calling on Muslims to use the Eid celebration period to pray for Nigeria, the President appealed for prayers for peace, national unity, and wisdom for leaders at all levels.
He also urged citizens to support the less privileged and strengthen communal bonds by sharing with neighbours and vulnerable members of society during the festive season.
Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to investing in security, infrastructure, agriculture, and human capital development to ensure that Nigerians can live peacefully, worship freely, and pursue their aspirations without fear.
The President concluded the message by wishing Muslims and all Nigerians a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Kabir celebration, praying that Allah accepts the sacrifices and prayers of the faithful and continues to bless Nigeria.
“Eid Mubarak! Happy Sallah!” he added.
