The Kwara State Police Command has announced the arrest of a suspected member of a logistics network believed to be supporting bandits and other criminal elements operating in parts of the state.
The arrest was made by operatives of the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) following intelligence-led operations and sustained covert surveillance in Ilorin, the state capital.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the suspect was apprehended for allegedly facilitating the movement and supply of materials suspected to be destined for criminal groups operating in forested areas and remote locations across Kwara State.

Items recovered during the operation included a large quantity of assorted cigarette brands and other food supplies, which investigators believe formed part of a logistics chain used to sustain criminal gangs.
The police said preliminary findings indicate that the suspect played a strategic support role within a wider network responsible for providing sustenance and other forms of assistance to bandits and allied criminal elements.
Investigators also reportedly recovered photographs from the suspect’s mobile phone showing him dressed in military camouflage and seated on a Bajaj motorcycle. The Command said the images have strengthened intelligence leads regarding his suspected links to criminal networks.
The police added that efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the suspected logistics network.

Speaking on the development, the Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, CP Adekimi Ojo, reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to tackling insecurity through intelligence-driven operations.
He stated that security efforts across the state are increasingly focused not only on armed criminals but also on the informants, collaborators, suppliers, and other support structures that enable criminal activities.
“The Command remains resolute in denying criminal groups the resources, freedom of movement, and support networks required to operate, while sustaining pressure on all persons involved in aiding criminality in any form,” the statement said.
The latest operation forms part of ongoing efforts by the Nigeria Police Force to dismantle criminal networks and strengthen security across Kwara State.
