The Kwara State Police Command has announced a major breakthrough in its ongoing efforts to combat violent crime, with the arrest of suspected armed robbers and cult members operating within the Amoyo axis of Ilorin.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the arrests followed a report received on April 19, 2026, at the Amoyo Division concerning an armed robbery incident at Kabba Kajola Junction.
Acting swiftly on the intelligence gathered, police operatives apprehended two suspects identified as Abdulazeez Isiaq, popularly known as “Pumpin,” and Rilwan Mohammed. Authorities disclosed that efforts are ongoing to track down another suspect who remains at large.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly assaulted their victims before forcibly taking them to an uncompleted building believed to serve as their hideout. At the location, the victims were reportedly threatened with death and robbed of their belongings, including an iPhone 13, a Samsung A2S, and other personal effects.
Police further confirmed the recovery of a locally made pistol and one of the stolen phones from the suspects. The duo is said to have confessed to the crime during interrogation.
Further findings at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) linked the suspects to the notorious Eiye Confraternity, a group associated with multiple cases of armed robbery and cult-related killings across Ilorin and surrounding areas.
The police described Abdulazeez Isiaq as a known criminal figure, noting that his arrest has significantly disrupted criminal operations in the area.
The Command assured residents of its continued commitment to safeguarding lives and property, adding that the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
