Cristiano Ronaldo’s tears after his penalty miss against Slovenia at Euro 2024 on Monday has been described by his sister, Elma Aveiro, as an emotion not borne out of football.
Ronaldo was captured and reported shedding tears after he missed an extra-time first-half penalty against Slovenia in the Euro 2024 last-16 encounter.
The 39-year-old had the chance to put Roberto Martinez’s side in front, but goalkeeper Jan Oblak denied the Al Nassr forward from the spot.
After the match, Elma Aveiro posted on Instagram, explaining her brother’s tears as she wrote:
“This scene was the moment he saw our lifelong mother on the giant screen.
