President of the BTA Foundation, Amofin Titilope Akogun has accused the Kwara State Government of deliberately marginalizing Kwara South by relocating key state-owned institutions to Ilorin, the state capital.
In a strongly worded statement on Saturday, Akogun condemned the decision to transfer the Kwara State College of Nursing, Oke-Ode, citing alleged insecurity as justification.
He described the move as part of a calculated effort to deprive Kwara South of development opportunities.
Akogun further criticized the relocation of the proposed Kwara State University of Education, which was initially intended for Oro but was moved to Ilorin despite the availability of existing infrastructure in the town.
He argued that the pattern reflects a long-standing neglect of Kwara South and North in favor of the Central Senatorial District, warning that the ongoing removal of institutions deepens inequality and stifles regional growth.

“This is injustice of the highest order. For too long, Kwara South has been left behind. Now, instead of addressing the imbalance, the government is stripping the region of the few institutions that promote education and development,” Akogun said.
The BTA Foundation president urged traditional rulers, lawmakers, and political appointees from Kwara South to take urgent steps to reverse the decisions.
He also called on residents of the region to resist what he described as systemic marginalization.
“We cannot fold our arms while our institutions are taken away. Kwara Southerners must rise and demand fairness,” he added.
The relocation of institutions has sparked renewed debate about equity and development across Kwara State.
