The All Progressives Congress (APC) has disqualified former Osun State Deputy Governors, Senator Iyiola Omisore and Benedict Olugboyega Alabi, alongside four other aspirants, from participating in the party’s December 13, 2025 governorship primary.
The seven-member screening committee, led by Barr. Obinna Uzor, submitted its report on Friday to the party’s Organisation Department, confirming that only Hon. Mulikat Adeola Jimoh and Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji met all constitutional and guideline requirements to contest for the APC ticket.
By God’s grace🙏, the event was a success. We’re now at 50% of our target and hope to complete🫠funds before Dec 24, 2025.

Also affected by the disqualification are Dotun Babayemi, Akin Ogunbiyi, Senator Babajide Omoworare, Kunle Adegoke (SAN), and Babatunde Haketer Oralusi.
According to the committee, Jimoh and Oyebamiji were the only contestants who “fulfilled all regulatory conditions as stipulated by the APC Constitution, the party’s guidelines, and the Electoral Act,” therefore earning full clearance for the primary.
However, the committee referred the six disqualified aspirants to the APC National Working Committee (NWC) for further review and possible ratification before the shadow election. It explained that a petition filed by the Osun APC Renewal Group triggered a deeper verification process that revealed multiple compliance breaches.
The petition alleged that certain aspirants did not meet the mandatory nominator requirements outlined in the APC Constitution. Following what the panel described as a “careful and comprehensive review,” it found the allegations “weighty, substantial, and relevant to the integrity of the screening.”
To ensure fairness, the committee applied the same scrutiny to all nine aspirants, thoroughly vetting every nominator attached to each candidate. The assessment was guided by Articles 9.3(i) and 31.2(ii) of the APC Constitution and Paragraph 6(c) of the 2025 Governorship Primary Guidelines.
At the end of the two-day screening exercise, only Jimoh and Oyebamiji were confirmed to have secured proper nomination by at least five financially up-to-date APC members from each Local Government Area in Osun State. This benchmark is a mandatory condition for governorship qualification within the party.
Senators Omisore and Omoworare, alongside Babayemi, Ogunbiyi, Alabi, Adegoke, and Oralusi, were all found to have fallen short of this requirement, resulting in their disqualification pending further appeal.
Meanwhile, the APC Screening Appeal Committee, chaired by Senator Tola Odebiyi, is expected to sit on Saturday in Abuja to consider petitions filed by the disqualified aspirants and other aggrieved stakeholders within the party.
