The Lagos State Police Command has invited Pastor Chris Okafor, Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, for questioning over allegations bordering on multiple rape, other sexual offences, and conduct capable of breaching public peace and law and order in Lagos State.
The police invitation, confirmed by the command’s spokesperson, Superintendent Abimbola Adebisi, was formally served through the cleric’s legal representatives, directing him to report at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, for interrogation.
According to the police, the invitation forms part of an ongoing investigation into several complaints and petitions alleging serious criminal conduct, including sexual offences, said to have been committed by the pastor over a period of time.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has ordered a comprehensive, professional, and impartial investigation, stressing that the case will be handled strictly in line with due process and the rule of law.
Police authorities stated that adequate security arrangements have been put in place to protect complainants, witnesses, and other persons connected to the investigation, as efforts are made to prevent any breakdown of public order.
The command further called on individuals with relevant information or similar experiences connected to the allegations to come forward and report to the SCID or the Police Public Relations Department, assuring them of confidentiality and protection.
The invitation follows widespread public attention generated by allegations that surfaced on social media in late 2025, including claims of sexual misconduct and abuse of trust involving the cleric, which sparked intense debate and calls for official investigation.
In earlier public remarks, Pastor Okafor acknowledged personal mistakes and issued an apology to members of his church, though he did not specifically address the allegations currently under police investigation.
The Lagos State Police Command emphasized that the invitation does not amount to a declaration of guilt, noting that no arrest has been made and that the pastor is expected to respond to questions as part of a fact-finding process.
Police authorities reiterated that no individual is above the law, regardless of status or religious influence, and assured the public that the outcome of the investigation will be determined solely by facts, evidence, and applicable laws as inquiries continue.
