Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, has entered a new marital union, a development that has drawn public attention in political and social circles.
The confirmation came through a social media announcement by Abraham Double-d Dajoh, who spoke on behalf of the Dajoh family. According to the post, Akume’s new wife is Queen Zaynab Ngohemba-George Akume Dajoh, a former queen consort of the Ooni of Ife.
In the statement, family members expressed joy over the union, formally receiving Queen Zaynab into the Dajoh family lineage. They described the marriage as a moment of celebration and extended goodwill messages to the couple, while also thanking supporters of the SGF for their continued loyalty.
The family’s message also highlighted the bride’s welcome into Benue State, popularly known as the “Food Basket of the Nation,” and into Mbakor, regarded as a traditional seat of leadership among the Tiv people.
Queen Zaynab was previously married to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi. That royal marriage was solemnised in March 2016, beginning with a traditional ceremony in Benin City, Edo State, and concluding with a thanksgiving service and reception at the Ile-Ife royal palace in Osun State.
However, the union ended in August 2017, bringing her time as queen consort to a close.
The latest marriage places Queen Zaynab in a new chapter of life, now as part of the Akume and Dajoh families, while Senator Akume adds a new personal milestone alongside his national public service role.
