On a crisp January night in Milan, under the historic arches of the San Siro, Arsenal delivered a performance that will be remembered long after the final whistle in the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League league phase. The Gunners, already stirring talk as genuine contenders for Europe’s most coveted club prize, left Italian soil with a statement victory, dismantling Inter Milan 3–1 with poise, precision and pure attacking threat.
Arsenal struck first blood in scintillating fashion. Just 10 minutes in, Gabriel Jesus pounced on a Jurriën Timber pass and clinically slotted home, sending the travelling Red Army into raptures. The Brazilian’s predatory instincts were in full flow, the net shook again in the 31st minute when Jesus rose to meet a pinpoint cross and headed Arsenal back into the lead after Inter had briefly levelled.
In between those two moments, Inter refused to be an underdog. Petar Sučić, showcasing his rising star quality, unleashed a thumping strike in the 18th minute that left Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya grasping at air.
The second half was a chess match. Inter, urged on by their supporters and eager to claw back momentum, carved out opportunities, but Arsenal’s organisation and tactical discipline kept them frustrated. As the clock ticked and nerves began to fray, it was Arsenal’s depth that delivered.
Viktor Gyökeres entered the picture. Off the bench and full of drive, the Swede seized his moment in the 84th minute, collecting possession and with a burst of pace drilling a sublime strike into the top corner, a goal that effectively sealed the tie and sent Arsenal fans into wild celebration.

This was far more than a group-stage win. It was Arsenal’s seventh straight victory in this season’s Champions League, a perfect record that punches their ticket into the knockout rounds with authority and confidence. The result keeps them atop their group, and for supporters dreaming of European glory, it felt like a watershed moment in Mikel Arteta’s vision for the club.
For Inter, the defeat dealt a blow to their hopes of automatic qualification from a tightly contested section. While their performances have shown promise, this night belonged to the Gunners, clinical in front of goal, composed under pressure, and unafraid to shine on one of Europe’s grandest stages, the San Siro.
