The Kwara State Police Command has heightened security operations across the state with a coordinated show of force aimed at ensuring a safe and peaceful Easter celebration for residents.
The operation, conducted on Saturday, April 4, 2026, was led by the Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, and covered strategic locations across the state. It forms part of a proactive policing approach designed to deter criminal activities and reassure the public of the command’s readiness during the festive period.
The exercise was carried out in collaboration with key security and safety agencies, including the Department of State Services, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps, and the Kwara State Road Traffic Management Agency. The joint operation reflects an integrated security framework aimed at strengthening surveillance and rapid response capabilities across Kwara.
According to the Command, the initiative follows directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to reinforce public safety nationwide before, during, and after the Easter celebrations.
As part of the heightened measures, there has been a visible deployment of personnel and operational assets across key flashpoints and major routes. Authorities say the show of force is not only to boost public confidence but also to send a strong warning to criminal elements that Kwara State is effectively secured and not conducive for unlawful activities.
CP Adekimi expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General for his strategic leadership and continued support, while also commending the participating agencies for their professionalism, synergy, and commitment to duty.
The Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining the intensified security architecture beyond the festive period, with the goal of maintaining long-term peace, order, and stability across the state.
The statement was signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police at the command headquarters in Ilorin on April 4, 2026.
