In a strategic move to deepen cooperative efforts in the fight against corruption and financial crimes, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigeria Police Force have renewed their commitment to enhanced collaboration in Kwara State, Nigeria.
The initiative was solidified on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, when the Acting Zonal Director of the EFCC’s Ilorin Zonal Directorate, Assistant Commander of the EFCC (ACE I) Victoria Ugo-Ali, paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Police Command, CP Adekimi Ojo, at the Command Headquarters in Ilorin.
The meeting was part of efforts to familiarise the newly appointed EFCC Zonal Director with the state’s police leadership and to strengthen existing synergy between the two agencies in combating economic and financial crimes.
During the visit, ACE I Ugo-Ali emphasised the pivotal role of the Nigeria Police in the anti-graft crusade, describing the force as “a critical stakeholder and strategic partner” in the enforcement of anti-corruption laws and order. She noted that the EFCC’s effectiveness in tackling economic and financial offences is significantly bolstered by the support and collaboration of the police , whom she termed “the foundation of law enforcement operations in the country.”
The meeting underscores a mutual understanding between both agencies that the fight against corruption demands shared intelligence, joint operational support, and seamless inter-agency communication. Observers note that such cooperation has been instrumental in previous coordinated operations such as EFCC’s arrests of suspected internet fraudsters and illegal mining suspects in Kwara, which often involve multiple law-enforcement stakeholders.
This initiative aligns with the EFCC’s broader national strategy of fostering inter-agency relations while prosecuting complex corruption cases and enhancing public confidence in law enforcement. For more on the EFCC’s activities and anti-corruption stories, visit efcc.gov.ng.
