Security operatives attached to Operation Enduring Peace have rescued three people abducted by suspected kidnappers along the Jos–Zaria highway and are continuing efforts to locate two others still in captivity following an attack in Plateau State.
The incident occurred at about 9:05 p.m. on June 24 near Mista Ali in Bassa Local Government Area after armed men reportedly intercepted travellers along the busy road.

According to security sources, troops responded promptly to a distress call, forcing the assailants to abandon part of their operation and flee into nearby surroundings.
Three victims—identified as Osuji Franklin, Danjuma Moses, and Irimiya Shehu—were successfully rescued during the intervention. The victims sustained varying degrees of injuries and were immediately evacuated to the General Hospital in Mista Ali for medical attention.
Preliminary investigations, however, revealed that the kidnappers had already escaped with two other victims, identified as Dayo and Henry Owen, before security personnel reached the scene.
During a search of the area, troops recovered an abandoned Opel Zafira vehicle bearing registration number RYM 25 A2, believed to be connected to the incident.
Security agencies have since launched a coordinated manhunt for the fleeing suspects while intensifying efforts to secure the safe release of the remaining abducted victims.

The latest incident underscores the persistent security challenges along sections of the Jos–Zaria highway, where security forces continue to maintain operations aimed at curbing kidnapping and other violent crimes.
