The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has dismantled a suspected inter-state robbery syndicate and recovered a truckload of items believed to have been stolen from various locations across the country.
The operation, carried out through intelligence-led investigations by operatives of the Command’s Intelligence and Investigation Department, led to the arrest of suspects allegedly linked to a criminal network involved in the movement and storage of stolen property. The recovered items were reportedly traced to a hideout in Ibadan, Oyo State, where they had been concealed pending distribution or sale.
According to the NSCDC, the recovered exhibits include a truck loaded with household appliances, electronics, furniture, industrial equipment and other valuables suspected to have been stolen from different states.
State Commandant Umar Mohammed disclosed that the breakthrough followed weeks of surveillance and coordinated intelligence gathering, which enabled operatives to identify the syndicate’s activities and intercept the stolen goods before they could be disposed of.
He described the operation as a major success in the fight against organised crime, noting that investigations are ongoing to identify the rightful owners of the recovered property and apprehend other members of the syndicate who remain at large.
The NSCDC urged members of the public who may have recently lost valuable property through burglary or robbery to come forward with proof of ownership for verification, while assuring residents that the corps remains committed to protecting lives and property through sustained intelligence-driven operations.
Authorities also appealed to the public to continue providing timely and credible information that could assist security agencies in dismantling criminal networks operating within and outside Kwara State.
