Nigerian Military Drone Strike Hits ISWAP Logistics Base, Over 20 Fighters Reportedly Killed

Posted on July 22, 2026July 22, 2026 By Rextun boss No Comments on Nigerian Military Drone Strike Hits ISWAP Logistics Base, Over 20 Fighters Reportedly Killed

More than 20 Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters have reportedly been killed in a Nigerian military air operation targeting a terrorist logistics and assembly location in the Southern Lake Chad region.

The strike, conducted on July 21 by the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) at Kila Bariya, followed intelligence indicating the presence of ISWAP operatives and supplies at the location, according to security and intelligence sources familiar with the operation.

A battle damage assessment conducted after the operation reportedly indicated that more than 20 terrorists were neutralised, while several others sustained serious injuries.

The air operation also destroyed more than 30 motorcycles believed to have been acquired for use in terrorist activities. The motorcycles were reportedly intended to support the group’s movement and mobility across the challenging terrain of the Lake Chad area.

In addition to the motorcycles, the strike reportedly destroyed a food storage facility used by ISWAP to keep large quantities of beans and other food supplies.

The stockpile was allegedly sourced through the forced collection or confiscation of agricultural produce from farming communities in parts of the Southern Lake Chad region.

Military sources said the destruction of the logistics site, transportation assets and food reserves could significantly weaken ISWAP’s ability to sustain its operations, move fighters and organise attacks in the area.

The loss of the motorcycles, in particular, is expected to affect the group’s capacity to conduct rapid movements, launch raids and reinforce its fighters across remote communities and difficult-to-access locations.

The operation is also considered significant because of the strategic importance of the Southern Lake Chad axis, where terrorist groups have continued attempts to maintain their operational networks and influence.

Areas around Marte, Ngala and Dikwa Local Government Areas have remained part of the broader operational environment in which Nigerian security forces are conducting sustained counter-insurgency operations aimed at restricting terrorist movements and dismantling their support structures.

The latest strike is part of the Nigerian military’s continuing intelligence-driven campaign under Operation HADIN KAI, combining aerial surveillance, precision strikes and ground operations against terrorist formations and their logistical networks.

The military has increasingly focused on disrupting the infrastructure that enables terrorist groups to operate, including supply routes, food reserves, transportation assets and assembly points.

While the reported casualty figures and extent of damage are based on intelligence and military assessments and could not be independently verified, the operation underscores the continued efforts by Nigerian forces to degrade ISWAP’s operational and logistical capabilities in the Lake Chad Basin.
