… FUHSI Pro chancellor commends his sterling leadership
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State has formally inaugurated a new slate of party executives, reaffirming Prince Sunday Fagbemi as the state party chairman at the conclusion of the party’s state congress held on Tuesday in Ilorin.
The congress, part of a nationwide series of state party leadership renewals, saw delegates from the 16 local government areas of Kwara affirm a 34-member State Executive Committee to serve for the next four years. The affirmation process was conducted in accordance with the party’s constitution and supervised by a national congress committee.
Speaking at the event, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq described the exercise as reflective of internal unity within the party, stating that opposition in the state had weakened and that the APC remains the dominant political force. He emphasised that the party will continue to focus on strengthening its structures ahead of future elections, including the 2027 general polls.
Prince Fagbemi, in his acceptance remarks, pledged to uphold party discipline and inclusive engagement, promising to work closely with party stakeholders to advance its political agenda. He thanked members for the renewed mandate and reaffirmed the APC’s commitment to democratic principles.
Meanwhile, renowned Neurosurgeon, Pro chancellor of the Federal University vof Health Science, Ila-Orangun and foremost gubernatorial hopeful in the 2027 general elections, Prof. Wale Sulaiman has congratulated Prince Fagbemi, stating that the outcome of the State Congress was not surprising, given the sterling leadership the chairman has given to the party in the past four years.
The inauguration of the Kwara APC executives follows peaceful ward and local government congresses earlier in February, where new leaders were affirmed at the grassroots level across the state’s 193 wards.
