Yesterday Arsenal made another move that left no one in doubt about their league title bid seriousness.
Arsenal concluded a fee of £21million plus add ons with Brighton for Belgian player Leandro Trossard.
The Belgian will arrive at the Emirates on a deal until 2027 with the option to extend by a further year.
Arsenal entered talks to sign the 28-year-old forward after missing out on their No. 1 target Mykhailo Mudryk to Chelsea earlier on this month.
The move would make Trossard Arsenal’s first signing of the January transfer window as Edu looks to answer Mikel Arteta’s call for more firepower in his squad.
Trossard has shown remarkable form this season so far, scoring seven and assisting three goals in 16 Premier League appearances.
Arsenal will try hard to ensure that the player is available for Sunday’s clash with Manchester United. The deal would have to be concluded by midday on Friday for him to be eligible for the match.
Arsenal have tracked Trossard since when he was at Genk. He was a valued Brighton player who was very adaptable to patterns of play
Arteta has been keen to sign a player who can play across the frontline having missed out on Mudryk this window and Raphinha in the summer, and Trossard fits this bill perfectly.
The 28-year-old is capable of using either foot and can play on either flank or through the middle and has also played as a wing back.
