Tension in Zamfara as Bandits Kill Three, Abduct 64 in Fresh Fegin Baza Attack

Posted on November 17, 2025November 17, 2025 By Rextun boss No Comments on Tension in Zamfara as Bandits Kill Three, Abduct 64 in Fresh Fegin Baza Attack

Armed bandits unleashed terror on Fegin Baza village in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Saturday, killing three residents and abducting at least 64 others in one of the latest waves of violence to hit the troubled region.

According to community members, the attackers stormed the village in large numbers, firing sporadically and causing residents to flee in panic. The gruesome raid left three villagers dead on the spot, while dozens were rounded up and taken into the forest by the assailants.

Witnesses reported that the bandits arrived on motorcycles and moved from house to house, forcing families out at gunpoint. Many residents who attempted to escape were chased down, while others hid in surrounding bushes until the attackers retreated.

The scale of the abduction has plunged the entire community into fear and mourning, as families struggle to identify those missing. Locals say women, children, and elderly persons are among the 64 kidnapped, a development that has heightened anxiety throughout Tsafe and its neighboring villages.

Security sources, though yet to issue an official statement, acknowledged that the attack is part of the recurring pattern of bandit activities across Zamfara, where armed groups have repeatedly targeted vulnerable rural communities for ransom-driven kidnappings.

Residents claim that distress calls were made during the attack, but security reinforcement did not arrive on time to prevent the mass abduction. This has fueled renewed criticism of the region’s security architecture and demands for more proactive military presence.

Local leaders and community associations have condemned the incident, calling it another painful reminder of the deteriorating security situation in the North-West. They urged both state and federal authorities to intensify rescue operations and prioritize the protection of rural settlements.

Security analysts warn that the persistence of such attacks is tied to the entrenched operations of bandit networks operating across forests in Zamfara and neighboring states. They argue that these criminals have become increasingly emboldened due to the difficult terrain and the profitability of ransom payments.

Families of the abducted victims are now appealing for urgent intervention from the government, fearing that prolonged captivity may expose the kidnapped individuals to harsh conditions, violence, or demands for heavy ransom.

As Zamfara battles yet another tragedy, calls are growing for a sustained, coordinated security response capable of dismantling bandit enclaves, restoring peace to farming communities, and preventing further loss of lives and mass abductions in the state.
