Arsenal have officially submitted their 25-man squad for the 2026/27 Premier League season, bringing clarity to the group manager Mikel Arteta will rely on as the Gunners attempt to defend their league title.
The Premier League published the official squad lists on Thursday, September 3, following the closure of the summer transfer window. Arsenal’s submission contains 25 senior players, in line with the competition’s squad-registration rules.
The confirmed Arsenal list features goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga alongside David Raya and Illan Meslier. The defensive options include Riccardo Calafiori, Gabriel Magalhães, Piero Hincapié, Cristhian Mosquera, Ezri Konsa, William Saliba, Jurrien Timber and Ben White.
In midfield, Arsenal have retained captain Martin Ødegaard, Declan Rice and new signing Bruno Guimarães, with Martin Zubimendi, Mikel Merino and Eberechi Eze also included. The club’s official Premier League submission also lists Eze and Madueke among the players satisfying the competition’s home-grown criteria.
The attacking section contains several major names, including Bukayo Saka, Viktor Gyökeres, Kai Havertz, Noni Madueke and summer arrival Christos Tzolis. The squad therefore retains significant attacking quality despite Arsenal’s decision not to make another major forward signing before the transfer deadline.
One of the most notable omissions from the senior squad is 16-year-old Max Dowman. However, his absence from the 25-man list does not prevent him from featuring in the Premier League because Under-21 players are eligible to play outside the 25-player limit. The Premier League defines Under-21 players for the 2026/27 campaign as those born on or after January 1, 2007.
Arsenal’s final squad also reflects significant movement during the summer. Gabriel Martinelli completed a £60 million transfer to Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal on Thursday, ending a seven-year spell in north London. The 25-year-old made 278 appearances and scored 62 goals for Arsenal.
Gabriel Jesus and Ethan Nwaneri also departed during the transfer window, while Arsenal strengthened other areas of the squad with additions including Guimarães, Hincapié, Konsa and Tzolis. Despite those reinforcements, the club did not secure another high-profile attacking target on deadline day.
The registration rules require Premier League clubs to name no more than 25 senior players, with a maximum of 17 players who do not meet the Home-Grown Player criteria. Additional Under-21 players can be registered separately and remain eligible to play in league matches.
Arsenal therefore enter the next phase of the campaign with a squad that combines established stars, experienced defenders, major summer additions and promising academy talent. The immediate question for Arteta will be whether the available attacking depth is sufficient for a campaign involving the Premier League, Champions League and domestic cup competitions.
