Canadian singer and multiple award-winner, Celine Dion has made a comeback to the musical stage performing on stage at the Summer Olympic Games in Paris.
The 56-year-old vocalist closed the ceremony, on Friday night, immediately after the lighting of the Olympic cauldron, with a performance from the first stage of the Eiffel Tower, singing a timeless classic: Edith Piaf’s “L’Hymne à l’amour.”
Dion made a rebound after a four-year Incapacitation due to her battle with stiff-person syndrome.
“I’m honoured to have performed tonight, for the Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony, and so full of joy to be back in one of my very favourite cities,” she said after their stunning performance.
“Most of all, I’m so happy to be celebrating these amazing athletes, with all their stories of sacrifice and determination, pain and perseverance.
“All of you have been so focused on your dream, and whether or not you take home a medal, I hope that being here means that it has come true for you.”
