The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is preparing to arraign the National President of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Bello Abdullahi Bodejo, before the Federal High Court in Abuja over allegations of terrorism financing and money laundering involving approximately $2.53 million.
According to information released by the anti-graft agency, a 12-count charge was filed against Bodejo on June 22, 2026. The charges accuse him of receiving and possessing large sums of foreign currency suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activities, contrary to provisions of Nigeria’s money laundering laws.
The EFCC alleged that Bodejo accepted multiple cash payments from a former Accountant-General of Bauchi State, Sa’idu Abubakar, without channeling the transactions through recognized financial institutions as required under Nigerian law. Investigators contend that the transactions violated provisions of both the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 and the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.
Among the allegations is a claim that Bodejo received $200,000 in cash from the former state official on January 21, 2022, a transaction the EFCC says breached financial regulations designed to curb illicit fund movements.
The commission stated that the case forms part of a broader investigation into suspected terrorism financing and money laundering activities linked to public funds and foreign currency transactions. Prosecutors are expected to present evidence supporting the charges when the matter comes up before the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Bodejo is expected to enter his plea once formally arraigned. As of the time of filing this report, no court verdict has been delivered, and the allegations remain subject to judicial determination.
