The Embassy of Ireland in Nigeria has announced the commencement of applications for the 2026 Ireland Fellows Programme, offering qualified Nigerians the opportunity to pursue fully funded one-year Master’s degree programmes at leading universities in Ireland.
According to the embassy, applications open on June 29, 2026, and the programme is designed for early and mid-career professionals from Nigeria and Ghana who wish to strengthen their academic qualifications and leadership capacity through postgraduate education.
The Ireland Fellows Programme covers the full cost of study, including tuition fees, return flights, visa expenses, accommodation, health insurance, and monthly living allowances, allowing successful candidates to complete their studies without financial burden.
For Nigerian applicants, the programme also includes the Roger Casement Fellowship in Human Rights, which supports Master’s studies in fields such as Law, Human Rights and Governance.
To qualify, applicants must be resident nationals of Nigeria, possess at least a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower, and have no less than three years of relevant professional work experience.
The fellowship aims to equip participants with advanced knowledge and leadership skills that can contribute to national development upon their return to their home countries.
Interested candidates are expected to submit their applications through the official Ireland Fellows Programme portal. The application window closes on July 26, 2026.
The Ireland Fellows Programme is funded by the Government of Ireland and supports capacity building by enabling professionals from eligible countries to gain internationally recognised postgraduate education while fostering long-term partnerships between Ireland and participating nations.
