… as Endorsements list positions him for APC Ticket

What began months ago as scattered expressions of admiration for the governorship aspiration of Prof. Wale Sulaiman has now snowballed into what observers describe as one of the most organic and geographically widespread endorsement waves currently shaping the permutations ahead of the 2027 governorship contest in Kwara State.
From the northern flank of the state to the central political nerve of Ilorin and down to Kwara South, support blocs, pressure groups, professional associations, youth networks, diaspora stakeholders and APC loyalists have continued to openly rally behind the internationally renowned neurosurgeon, reinforcing a narrative that his acceptability may be transcending the traditional boundaries of money-driven political mobilization.
Unlike the increasingly familiar pattern where endorsements are allegedly procured through political patronage, rented crowds or transactional arrangements, many of the endorsements trailing Prof. Sulaiman have carried the tone of voluntary advocacy driven by conviction about competence, exposure and perceived administrative capacity.
Political analysts within the state note that this distinction is becoming increasingly significant among politically conscious voters who are beginning to differentiate between “media endorsements” and what they call “community-rooted acceptance.”
Over the past months, several endorsements cutting across the three senatorial districts have repeatedly placed Prof. Sulaiman at the center of conversations within the ruling APC.
Among the notable declarations previously reported were endorsements by APC stakeholders and youth groups spanning the three senatorial zones under the banner of Frontiers for United APC, which described him as the most detribalized and globally exposed aspirant in the race.
The aspiration of the renowned medical scholar also received public validation from respected elder statesman and NADECO figure, Bisi Akande, who reportedly cited Prof. Sulaiman’s composure, global exposure and systems-thinking orientation as qualities urgently needed in governance.
Support networks within Kwara South had earlier projected him as a bridge-builder with uncommon international connections capable of attracting investment and institutional reforms, while several youth-driven advocacy platforms in Kwara Central praised his philanthropic footprint and long-standing interventions in healthcare and education.
In Kwara North, grassroots mobilizers and APC loyalists have also increasingly echoed sentiments around inclusiveness, technocratic leadership and accessibility, themes that continue to dominate discussions around the professor’s candidacy.
Observers say the pattern emerging around the endorsements is notable not merely because of their frequency, but because of their spread and consistency across demographics.
Within APC circles, conversations are gradually shifting from mere popularity contests to questions around electability, intellectual depth, international reputation and administrative preparedness, areas where supporters insist Prof. Sulaiman possesses unusual advantages.
Political watchers also point to the symbolic weight of endorsements coming from individuals and blocs not directly tied to formal campaign structures, arguing that such unsolicited support often reflects deeper grassroots sentiment than choreographed political declarations.
As alignments intensify ahead of intra-party calculations, the expanding endorsement profile of Prof. Sulaiman is increasingly being interpreted as evidence of a candidacy gaining emotional and political momentum beyond conventional structures.
While other aspirants continue to flood the media space with orchestrated endorsements and carefully staged propaganda optics, supporters of the medical professor insist that the steadily rising chorus around him is not manufactured excitement but a spontaneous movement fueled by credibility, competence and growing statewide trust.
For many within the APC, the unfolding question is no longer whether Prof. Wale Sulaiman is a major contender in the 2027 race, but how far the swelling cross-zonal momentum around his aspiration can reshape the final power equation within the party.
