Kwara Police Activate Statewide Security Deployment Ahead of Christmas, New Year Celebrations

Posted on December 24, 2025December 24, 2025 By Rextun boss No Comments on Kwara Police Activate Statewide Security Deployment Ahead of Christmas, New Year Celebrations

The Kwara State Police Command has announced the activation of comprehensive security arrangements across the state ahead of the Christmas and New Year festivities. The move, according to the command, is aimed at ensuring the safety of lives and property during the yuletide season.

In a press release issued on Tuesday, the Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, CP Adekimi Ojo, psc, mnips, said the measures reflect his commitment to proactive policing and sustained public safety. He noted that the deployment underscores the readiness of the command to maintain peace and boost public confidence before, during and after the festive period.

The police boss explained that the security strategy aligns with the nationwide yuletide security architecture of the Nigeria Police Force as directed by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM. As part of the plan, visibility policing, intelligence-led patrols and targeted operations have been significantly intensified across the state.

According to the statement, police presence has been increased in churches, mosques, markets, recreational and event centres, motor parks, highways and other public spaces expected to witness high human and vehicular traffic during the celebrations. These measures are intended to deter crime and ensure rapid response to any security threat.

The command further disclosed that tactical and specialised units have been placed on heightened alert, with sustained surveillance and raids ongoing in identified blackspots and flashpoints across Kwara State. Officers deployed for the operation have been instructed to conduct themselves in a professional, firm and courteous manner while carrying out their duties.

CP Ojo assured residents that the Kwara State Police Command remains resolute in its mandate to sustain peace and security throughout the festive season and beyond. He also extended warm Christmas and New Year greetings to the people of the state, expressing hope that the celebrations would bring joy, unity and progress to all communities.

The commissioner urged members of the public to remain vigilant and celebrate responsibly, stressing the importance of community cooperation in maintaining security. He encouraged residents to promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the command’s control room numbers.

The statement, signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, anipr, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, provided the emergency contact lines as 07032069501 and 08125275046 for quick communication with the police.

The Kwara State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property and wished residents a peaceful Christmas and a prosperous New Year, assuring them of continued police presence and vigilance across the state.
