Liverpool signed off for the World Cup break with a win as they beat Southampton 3-1.
The Reds took a sixth-minute lead when Roberto Firmino headed in a free-kick but was quickly equalized when Che Adams netted score a similar goal off a header.
However, Southampton’s hopes of pulling off an Anfield win on their new manager’s debut did not last long, with Darwin Nunez twice getting on the scoresheet before the break.

And that is how it ended despite a spirited second-half performance from the visitors, who slipped into the bottom three with the defeat.
