… Witty, Entertaining Retrospections and Predictions
Yesterday night, there were four major matches noted. Two league games and two Champions league games.
First was the league table toppers in England. Arsenal against Manchester City. Again, since 2015, the Gunners failed to defeat the Citizens with a painful loss of 3-1. This means they relinquish the #1 position in England. Will they get back to the top position? Only sixteen games remaining for them with a game left against this same arch nemesis, the Citizens. It must be noted that the best Arsenal team so far remains the “Invincibles”. The Arsene Wenger- Thierry Henry strike force team. It wasn’t easy to go on an unbeaten run of 49 games. It was also during that era, Arsenal got to their only final of the UEFA Champions League. Currently, Arsenal has dropped points in three consecutive games. A poor run for a title contending team.
The second match was the Chelsea-Dortmund match where Chelsea lacked the cutting edge in a game they had eight shots on target. Seven of those shots were saved by the Defence and the Keeper. The only goal came from a counter attack built from a Chelsea corner kick, which saw Karim Adeyemi beat Enzo Fernandez when he made a run from the Dortmund defence to the midfield and a deft-touch decoy to beat Kepa before slotting it into an empty net. A very beautiful goal. Graham Potter might not survive if Chelsea crashes out. Jude Bellingham handled the Dortmund midfield well as usual.

The other game between Benfica and FC Brugges ended 2:0 in favour of the Portuguese team.
In the Spanish La liga, Real Madrid defeats Elche 4:0. The Spanish giant is still behind arch rival, Barcelona by eight points.
Tomorrow, the Europa league returns with star match between Barcelona and Manchester United.
