No fewer than 13 persons have been reportedly killed by suspected herdsmen who invaded a community in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State.
It was gathered that the herdsmen, while carrying out the attack, burned houses and looted properties as they moved.
A source from the community who didn’t want to be named for fear of victimisation told newsmen in Makurdi: “Yesterday, July 9, 2024, Fulani herdsmen attacked Olegomachi community of Agatu LGA and killed 13 people.”
The caretaker chairman of Agatu Council, Phillip Ebenyakwu, confirmed the attack.
Ebenyakwu, in a phone call with journalists, said: “Yes, it’s confirmed. There was an attack. It happened yesterday evening. The number they gave me was 10 people killed.
