One person has been confirmed dead and nine victims rescued from the three-storey building which collapsed in the Ojodu-Berger area of Lagos Saturday morning.
The structure, located at 10 Oremeta Street, housed a bar and restaurant before it crumbled, trapping occupants beneath the rubble.
Officials of the Lagos state emergency management agency (LASEMA) led the rescue operation, with Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the agency’s permanent secretary, confirming the casualty figure.
He said one of the victims received immediate medical attention from the agency’s pre-hospital care unit and was subsequently transported to a hospital for further treatment.
