CCYF Declares Killings of Christians in Nigeria a Genocide, Warns Against Silence and Denial

Posted on October 18, 2025October 18, 2025 By Rextun boss No Comments on CCYF Declares Killings of Christians in Nigeria a Genocide, Warns Against Silence and Denial

The Concerned Christian Youth Forum (CCYF) has issued a strong statement describing the ongoing killings of Christians across Nigeria as “nothing short of genocide,” cautioning that any attempt to deny or distort the truth will not stand the test of history.

In a press release signed by its Convener, James Paul Adama, and made available to journalists in Abuja, the group said the scale, frequency, and coordination of attacks against Christian communities especially in the Middle Belt and parts of northern Nigeria show clear evidence of systematic targeting.

According to the statement, the relentless assaults on villages, churches, and farmlands have resulted in “the loss of innocent lives, mass displacement, and the destruction of centuries-old Christian settlements.” CCYF argued that the killings are not isolated incidents of banditry or herder-farmer clashes, but rather “a deliberate and sustained campaign against faith-based communities.”

“We can no longer remain silent while our people are being murdered and our lands overrun,” Adama said. “What is happening in Nigeria today meets every definition of genocide, and history will not forgive those who stand by and pretend otherwise.”

The youth group also accused government authorities of responding inadequately to the crisis, calling on the Federal Government and security agencies to urgently take concrete steps to halt the violence, bring perpetrators to justice, and restore security to affected communities.

CCYF further urged civil society groups, international partners, and global human rights organisations to pay closer attention to the plight of Christians in Nigeria, insisting that the world must not remain indifferent while lives are being lost daily.

The statement noted that repeated appeals for protection and justice have gone unanswered, emboldening attackers to continue their acts of terror. “Each time we bury our loved ones, we are reminded of a government and a world that appear unwilling to act,” the group lamented.

While reaffirming its commitment to peaceful advocacy, CCYF maintained that Christian youths would no longer stay passive in the face of what it called an “existential threat.” The group also pledged to mobilise across the country and internationally to ensure that “the blood of the innocent does not cry in vain.”

The Forum called on Nigerians, regardless of faith or ethnicity, to unite against the growing culture of violence and impunity threatening the country’s survival.

“We seek not vengeance but justice,” Adama concluded. “Our demand is simple: let there be truth, accountability, and the protection of human life for every Nigerian.”
