President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered an immediate and coordinated security crackdown to track down and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the deadly attack on Kasuwan Daji community in Niger State.
In a directive issued on Sunday, the President instructed the Minister of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police, and the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS) to hunt down the perpetrators and ensure they are swiftly brought to justice. He also mandated security agencies to urgently rescue all victims abducted during the attack.
The directive follows the recent killing of villagers in Kasuwan Daji by terrorists suspected to be fleeing from Sokoto and Zamfara states after a United States air strike carried out on Christmas Eve.
President Tinubu strongly condemned the brutal assault on the community, describing the killings and the abduction of women and children as heinous and unacceptable. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, as well as to the government and people of Niger State.
“These terrorists have tested the resolve of our country and its people. They must, therefore, face the full consequences of their criminal actions,” the President said. “No matter who they are or what their intent is, they must be hunted down. They, and all those who aid, abet, or enable them in any form, will be caught and brought to justice.”
Assuring residents of Niger State of the Federal Government’s resolve, President Tinubu said security agencies have been directed to intensify operations around vulnerable communities, particularly those located near forests known to serve as hideouts for criminal elements.
He also called on Nigerians to remain united and resolute in the face of the tragedy, warning against divisive rhetoric that could weaken national cohesion and undermine security efforts.
“These times demand our humanity. We must stand together as one people and confront these monsters in unison,” the President said. “United, we can and must defeat them, deny them any sanctuary, and reclaim the peace and security of these attacked communities.”
The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to restoring safety across the country and ensuring that acts of terror are met with decisive and uncompromising action.
