The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a medical doctor allegedly linked to kidnapping networks operating across parts of Kwara State.
The suspect was intercepted in the Jebba axis after intelligence reports revealed that he routinely transported medical supplies from Sokoto to criminal gangs hiding in forested zones of the state. According to security sources, the doctor had been under discreet surveillance before operatives moved in to apprehend him.

Investigations indicate that several members of the kidnapping syndicates have recently sustained gunshot injuries during clashes with security operatives, creating an urgent need for medical attention within the criminal groups. Officials believe this growing desperation prompted the gangs to rely heavily on discreet medical couriers.
A security officer familiar with the operation disclosed that the development highlights a new tactic adopted by the gangs. “We are advising health facilities, particularly those close to thick forest areas to strengthen security measures because kidnappers may attempt to infiltrate in search of treatment,” the officer said.
The DSS has intensified its crackdown on collaborators and support networks that enable kidnappers to operate across the state.
