Troops of the Nigerian military, working alongside members of the local vigilante group Jami’an Tsaro, have neutralised suspected Lakurawa terrorists during a coordinated security operation in Kangiwa community of Kebbi State.
The operation, carried out under Operation Fansan Yamma, targeted suspected terrorist elements operating in the area as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle extremist networks across northwestern Nigeria.

According to security sources, the joint force engaged the suspects in a gun battle, resulting in the deaths of several terrorists. Security personnel also recovered weapons, ammunition and explosive materials believed to have been abandoned by the fleeing militants during the encounter.
The latest operation is part of sustained military offensives against the Lakurawa group, which has expanded its activities across parts of Kebbi and Sokoto states in recent years. Nigerian security forces have intensified coordinated ground operations to prevent the group from establishing safe havens in border communities.

Authorities have continued to urge residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely intelligence, noting that collaboration between the military and local security outfits has become increasingly important in disrupting terrorist activities and improving community safety.
The military has reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations against terrorist groups and other criminal elements until affected communities are fully secured.
