Wonder player, Lionel Messi has brought alive Argentina’s World Cup hopes at Qatar 2022 in a much-needed 2-0 victory over Mexico on Saturday, November 26.
This is coming after the Argentines conceded a shocking defeat to Saudi Arabia in its opening Group C match.
Pundits have described the defeat as one of the biggest upsets in World Cup history. This made it mandatory for Argentina to get a win against Mexico to have a chance in the group stages qualifier.
During the tension soaked match, Argentina struggled to create chances while Mexico was all out to frustrate Messi’s team.
By half time, the score stood at a frustrating 0-0 and it seemed the Argentines were heading towards a possible exit from the world cup.

After about 60 minutes of play, irrepressible Lionel Messi found his rhythm with a blazing strike from outside of the box as he increased score line for his side.
Then the Mexicans found urgency and tried to equalize following Messi’s strike.
The goal by Messi expectedly buoyed the Argentines’ fighting spirit and they invaded spaces in the Mexican defense on the field of play.
Like a thunderbolt for the Mexicans, Lionel Messi pulled off an assist for Enzo Fernandez to get the second goal that sealed the victory of the day.
With the victory, Argentina now have 3 points level with Saudi Arabia at 3 points while Poland tops the group with 4 points. A Final group clash between Argentina and Poland could decide who tops the group while Saudi Arabia who lost 2-0 to Poland on Saturday will face Mexico.
