The African Action Congress (AAC) has written to President Bola Tinubu, seeking approval to inaugurate its Presidential Campaign Council for its presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja, on November 11, 2026.
In a letter dated October 21, 2026, and signed by the party’s National Secretary, Oshiokhue Philip Ikpeminoghena, the AAC also requested the provision of food, drinks and logistical support for 5,000 participants expected to attend the event from within Nigeria and abroad.
The party said its demands were anchored on the principles of multiparty democracy, political inclusiveness and equal treatment of political parties, arguing that public institutions should operate without partisan discrimination.
The AAC reportedly cited similar arrangements extended to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as justification for its request, urging the Tinubu administration to demonstrate its commitment to fairness by granting the opposition party comparable access and support.
The party maintained that public institutions and facilities should serve the interests of all Nigerians, irrespective of their political affiliations, insisting that equal treatment is essential to strengthening democratic practice.
The request places the administration’s commitment to political inclusiveness and equal access to public facilities in focus as political parties begin preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The AAC is seeking approval for the proposed inauguration at the Presidential Villa, alongside the requested feeding and logistical arrangements for the 5,000 expected participants.
As of the details contained in the letter, the party’s requests were yet to be confirmed as approved by the Presidency.
