Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has been laid to rest in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State.
The burial took place at approximately 5:50 p.m., with Vice President Kashim Shettima among those who helped lower the body into the grave. The ceremony followed Islamic rites and was attended by high-ranking officials, including President Bola Tinubu.

President Tinubu and other dignitaries had earlier arrived with the late president’s body at his Daura residence around 4:33 p.m., following a brief prayer at the helipad where the funeral chopper landed.
Buhari’s remains, draped in the national flag, were carried by senior military personnel and received with full honours, including a ceremonial gun salute. His citation was delivered at the graveside by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa.
The late president passed away in London on Sunday evening at the age of 82, after battling a prolonged illness. His body was flown into Katsina Airport around 2:00 p.m. and transported by road to Daura for interment.
Family members, close allies, and top government officials accompanied the body on its final journey.
