Lagos, Nigeria – August 15, 2025 — In a bold overhaul of Nigeria’s downstream sector, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery today began delivering petrol and diesel—free of logistics charges—directly to retailers, marketers, and industrial users nationwide.
This strategic pivot, built on heavy infrastructure investment, includes a fleet of 4,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) tankers and more than 100 booster stations, ensuring efficient, eco-conscious delivery to even the most remote corners of the nation.
In addition, Dangote’s innovative credit facility provides bulk buyers—those purchasing at least 500,000 liters—with an extra 500,000 liters on credit for up to two weeks, supported by bank guarantees. This has the potential to ease cash flow pressures across the supply chain.
The ripple effects are significant. By cutting logistics costs and removing intermediaries, the refinery aims to lower fuel prices, revive rural fuel stations, fuel SME growth, and boost economic activity, while reinforcing investor confidence in the petroleum sector.
This direction aligns with broader governmental priorities—President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the Naira-for-Crude initiative—targeting energy independence and economic stability.
While independent marketers, manufacturers, rural filling stations, and large-scale fuel users stand to benefit, traditional depot owners and tanker operators may face disruption as their roles diminish.
This significant logistics upgrade, estimated at ₦720 billion ($470 million), reiterates the refinery’s commitment to transforming Nigeria’s energy landscape—making affordable fuel accessible from today, August 15, 2025.
