Nigeria’s state governments have collectively received a total of ₦7.1 trillion from the Federal Government under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
This was revealed by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, during a ministerial briefing in Abuja.
Edun explained that the funds represent all federal allocations and payments to states since the current administration came into office.
He noted that the federal disbursements have given states greater financial capacity to deliver projects and improve services for citizens.
According to him, the amount marks a significant increase compared to previous years, helping to boost fiscal stability at the subnational level.
This, he said, is part of the government’s broader economic strategy to ensure growth is felt across every region of the country.

The minister also stressed that the administration is committed to increasing capital investment, creating jobs, and strengthening state economies through better funding and transparent financial management.
“With ₦7.1 trillion disbursed so far, states have the resources to invest in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and other critical sectors that directly impact the lives of Nigerians,” Edun said.
The announcement is seen as a major boost for state governments, many of which have been struggling with revenue shortfalls.
