His detention by the agency more than 48 hours as required by law without a court order has sparked controversies among politicians across the country.
During the detention in the Agency’s office , Dr. Ahmed was allgedly denied access to his friends and families, an allegation that was denied by the zonal commander, Mr. Michael Michael Nzekwe.
Reacting to the news of arraignment of the former governor Ahmed, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state alleged that the case is politically motivated by the Kwara state governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to divert attention from his mishandling of the state resources, especially the N17.8b renovation of the Kwara Hotel and state’s subsidy palliative by the federal government
In an interview with the National Moonlight, the PDP public relations officer, Olusola Adewara Shollyments, said what the party frowned against is continuous detention of the former governor against the law of the land.
“We’re happy that the Agency has finally decided to arraign Dr Ahmed, who we believe will be eventually vindicated,” he said.
