Yesterday in Abuja, Abubakar Ganduje, former governor of Kano State has decried the demolition of some buildings in Kano State by the newly inaugurated Gov. Abba Yusuf-led administration.
Ganduje accused his predecessor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, of being the mastermind behind the happenings in the state.
Former governor Ganduje was at Aso Rock Villa on Friday evening where he had a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu. He spoke to the State House Correspondents.
The distraught former governor said the demolitions were executed without due process and, therefore, breached the law.
The new state chief executive, in his inauguration speech on May 29, gave an order to security agencies in Kano to immediately take over all public properties believed to have been sold by the Ganduje administration, alleging that they were illegally acquired and built.
Affected structures include Haji camp, Daula Hotel and shopping complexes around the Eid Prayer Ground in Kano, structures.
Meanwhile, former governor Ganduje has said most of the affected buildings were products of Public-Private Partnerships.
When asked about the President’s response and if they had reconciled inside the Villa, Ganduje said “I know that he is in the building. But we did not meet inside. I would have slapped him if I met him inside.”
