The Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, Ojo Adekimi, has reaffirmed the commitment of the command to intelligence-driven policing and stronger collaboration with local communities during an operational visit to the Omu-Aran and Iloffa Area Command.
The strategic visit, conducted in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, focused on enhancing public safety, strengthening stakeholder engagement, and sustaining peace across communities within the area of responsibility.
CP Adekimi was received on arrival by the Area Commander, ACP Muazu Ismail, alongside senior officers of the Omu-Aran Area Command before proceeding to the palace of the Olomu of Omu-Aran, AbdulRaheem Oladele Adeoti, and members of the Olomu Royal Council.
During the palace meeting, discussions centred on the prevailing security situation in Omu-Aran and Iloffa, with emphasis placed on the need for deeper cooperation between traditional institutions, security agencies, and residents in tackling crime and maintaining stability.
The royal fathers commended the Kwara State Police Command for what they described as proactive policing efforts in the area. They also pledged continued support through intelligence sharing, community sensitization, and peaceful conflict resolution mechanisms.
Following the palace engagement, the police commissioner, accompanied by traditional rulers and other dignitaries, moved to the Omu-Aran City Hall for a wider community security meeting attended by local government chairmen, religious leaders, youth representatives, members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), political stakeholders, divisional police officers, and representatives of other security agencies.
A major highlight of the event was a presentation by Mr Timothy Avele of Agent-X Security Ltd titled “Defeating Terrorism with Super-Intelligence Technology, Equipment, and Citizens’ Cooperation.” The paper stressed the importance of modern surveillance systems, intelligence gathering, strategic security tools, and active public participation in combating emerging security threats.
Addressing participants, CP Adekimi assured residents that the command remains fully committed to protecting lives and property across Kwara State. He noted that the police would continue to prioritise rapid response operations, intelligence-led policing, and sustained collaboration with communities in the fight against criminality.
Stakeholders at the meeting also delivered goodwill messages, urging residents to remain vigilant, united, and supportive of security agencies in order to preserve peace and stability in the region.
The police command said the engagement forms part of ongoing efforts to deepen trust between law enforcement authorities and the communities they serve across Kwara State.
