The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed allegations of financial impropriety following reports that ₦100 million was paid into the personal bank account of Victor Egbetokun, son of Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun. Public attention was drawn to the issue after online reports alleged that the ₦100 million originated from the security vote account of the Anambra State Government and was traced to a private account belonging to Victor Egbetokun. In an official response, the Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, explained that the transfer was neither solicited nor expected. He stated that the credit alert was noticed by Victor, who immediately flagged it as suspicious and took steps to have the funds returned to the originating account.
Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s political programme Politics Today, Hundeyin clarified that the transaction was reversed shortly after it was discovered. The police further disclosed that Victor printed out his bank statement to demonstrate that the money was returned. Authorities also confirmed that the account involved in the transaction has since been closed as a precautionary measure to prevent any recurrence or further controversy.

They maintained that neither the Inspector-General nor his son had any prior knowledge of or involvement in the transfer before it occurred.
