NSCDC Arrests 12 Malian Nationals in Ilorin Following Community Tip-Off

Posted on February 26, 2026February 26, 2026 By Rextun boss No Comments on NSCDC Arrests 12 Malian Nationals in Ilorin Following Community Tip-Off

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has apprehended 12 suspected illegal immigrants from Mali in the Akerebiata area of Ilorin after residents raised concerns about suspicious movements within the neighbourhood.

The arrests were carried out during a late-night operation after the command received credible intelligence from members of the public regarding unusual activities around a two-bedroom apartment in the area. Acting swiftly on the tip-off, NSCDC operatives moved to the location and took the suspects into custody without reported resistance.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Corps Ayoola Michael Shola, confirmed that the operation was conducted around 10:00 p.m. He explained that preliminary investigations suggest the individuals are foreign nationals whose presence and activities in the state could not be immediately justified.

Items recovered from the suspects during the operation include nine mobile phones, two international passports, several identification cards, a wristwatch, keys, and an undisclosed amount of cash. The recovered materials are being examined as part of ongoing investigations to determine the legality of their entry into Nigeria and their purpose of stay in Kwara State.

Kwara State Commandant of the NSCDC, Bala Bodinga, stated that the command has launched a comprehensive investigation to ascertain how the individuals gained access into the country and whether they have any links to criminal networks or unlawful activities. He noted that ensuring the safety of residents remains a top priority for the corps.

According to the commandant, once investigations are concluded, the suspects will be transferred to the Nigeria Immigration Service for further administrative and legal action in accordance with Nigeria’s immigration laws.
