A police officer attached to the federal capital territory (FCT) command has been arrested for allegedly stabbing a man to death during a dispute in Nyanya.
Zagazola Makama, the counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, quoted intelligence sources as saying Sunday Alabi was responding to a reported burglary case on Thursday, at about 9:15pm, when the incident occurred.
Makama reports that Alabi was attempting to arrest a suspect when a crowd gathered at the scene to dispute the complaint.
In the ensuing melee, Alabi allegedly stabbed 35-year-old Clement Itom in the chest and fled to the station.
According to the publication, the victim was rushed to Nyanya General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead, with a bloodstained jackknife recovered from the scene as evidence.
