Irate Rivers State dwellers on Friday stormed the office of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, RSIEC, insisting that the October 5 local government elections in the state must hold.
The protesters were said to have defied the heavy rainfall in the state, singing and drumming, with one side of the road blocked.
This comes after Governor Siminalayi Fubara stormed the RSIEC at 1 am on Friday, to stop the Rivers State Police Command from taking over the premises.
Rextun City Updates reports that earlier today, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command released a statement in which the police expressed determination to abide by an Abuja court restraining order on the conduct of the LG Polls.
