Ribadu Berates Canada For Denying Military Chiefs Visa

Posted on February 13, 2025February 13, 2025 By Rextun boss No Comments on Ribadu Berates Canada For Denying Military Chiefs Visa

The National Security Adviser, Mal. Nuhu Ribadu has criticized the Canadian government for denying visas to Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and other senior military officials.

Ribadu made public his reaction on Thursday at the inaugural annual lecture of the National Association of the Institute for Security Studies in Abuja.

He called the visa denial “disrespectful” adding that Canada “can go to hell.”

His comments came after General Musa shared the experience of being denied entry into Canada, along with other senior military officers, for an official engagement.

The CDS had earlier explained that the delegation were invited to an event honoring war veterans but was left stranded after some members’ visa applications were rejected.

“Every disappointment is a blessing.

“Yesterday, I was meant to be in Canada for an event to honour our veterans—those injured in battle. We were invited along with our team, but while half of us got visas, the other half was denied. It’s very disappointing,” Musa said

He referred to the action as a wake-up call for Nigeria to reinforce its sovereignty.

“This is a reminder that we must stand on our own, stand strong as a nation, and refuse to be taken for granted,” he added.

In response to the situation, Ribadu praised the CDS for openly speaking out on the matter, emphasizing that Nigeria should concentrate on strengthening its own capabilities instead of seeking approval from foreign countries.

“Thank you for the courage to say Canada denied you visas. They can go to hell,” Ribadu declared.

“Even though it’s painful and disrespectful, we are peaceful, we are strong, and I agree with you—it is time to fix our country. This is yet another reason we must work hard to make Nigeria work.”
