The Sole Administrator of Ahoada East Local Government Area, Mr. Goodluck Iheamnachor, has denied reports circulating on social media claiming he has resigned from office. In a telephone interview with Nigerian Info FM.
Mr. Iheamnachor firmly declared that he remains the substantive administrator of the council, urging the public to disregard what he described as a forged resignation letter.
A document dated June 20, 2025, bearing a green-ink signature purportedly signed by Iheamnachor, has been widely shared online. The letter, addressed to the Rivers State Sole Administrator, retired Vice Admiral Ibok Ete Ibas, claimed that Mr. Iheamnachor was voluntarily stepping down to return to private practice. However, Iheamnachor insists the letter is fake and does not emanate from him.
“I did not resign. That letter is fake. I was attacked in my office by hoodlums who took away my personal belongings. I want the public to know that I am still the Sole Administrator of Ahoada East Local Government,” Iheamnachor declared.
Conflicting accounts have emerged surrounding the incident at the council office. Mr. Hector Ekeakita, who introduced himself as the Chief Security Officer of Ahoada East Local Government Council, contradicted Iheamnachor’s claim of an attack.

Speaking in a separate press parley, Ekeakita asserted that the Sole Administrator willingly resigned under pressure from protesting youths.
“There was no attack. The youths came in their numbers to express displeasure over the alleged mismanagement of council funds. It was a peaceful protest that turned into a scuffle. The pressure from the protest led to his resignation,” Ekeakita claimed.
The unfolding drama has thrown the Ahoada East council into a state of uncertainty, as questions loom over the authenticity of the resignation letter and the events that led to its emergence.
As of press time, no official statement has been released by the Rivers State Government regarding the legitimacy of the resignation or Mr. Iheamnachor’s status in office.
This development comes amid growing tensions in several local government areas in Rivers State, with disputes over tenure and leadership legitimacy becoming increasingly frequent.
