Arteta Signs New Arsenal Deal Until 2030 After Ending Club’s 22-Year Title Drought

Posted on October 7, 2026October 7, 2026 By Rextun boss No Comments on Arteta Signs New Arsenal Deal Until 2030 After Ending Club’s 22-Year Title Drought

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has signed a new long-term contract that will keep him at the helm of the Premier League champions until June 2030, strengthening the club’s commitment to the Spaniard following his successful transformation of the North London side.

The club confirmed the agreement on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, bringing an end to uncertainty surrounding Arteta’s future as he entered the final year of his previous contract. The new deal is expected to extend his tenure beyond a decade if he sees out the agreement.

The contract extension comes after Arteta guided Arsenal to their first Premier League title in 22 years during the 2025–26 season. The achievement marked a major milestone in the club’s resurgence under the former midfielder, who had led the Gunners to three consecutive second-place finishes before finally delivering the championship.

Arteta, 44, expressed his delight at committing his future to Arsenal, describing the opportunity to continue working with the club as a privilege. He said the relationship built within the organisation and the club’s distinctive character had made the decision particularly meaningful.

The Spaniard added that Arsenal had already created special memories during his tenure, but insisted that the club’s journey was far from complete. His message reflects an ambition to build on the league triumph and establish a sustained period of success.

Arsenal’s co-chairmen, Stan and Josh Kroenke, also welcomed the agreement, praising Arteta’s understanding of the club’s values and his commitment to its ambitions. They expressed confidence in the manager’s ability to build on the progress achieved since his appointment in December 2019.

Arteta took charge after Unai Emery’s departure, having previously served as an assistant to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. Although his appointment marked his first full-time managerial role, he quickly set about rebuilding Arsenal’s identity through tactical changes, squad restructuring and a renewed emphasis on discipline and collective responsibility.

His first major success came in 2020, when Arsenal won the FA Cup during his debut season in charge. The club subsequently returned to the UEFA Champions League after a six-year absence, while the development of young players and strategic recruitment helped establish the team among England’s leading title contenders.

The new agreement also provides continuity for Arsenal’s coaching structure as the club seeks to defend its domestic crown and compete for European honours. Retaining Arteta allows the club to pursue its long-term sporting plans under a manager who has overseen the team’s evolution from inconsistency to championship-winning form.

Arteta’s renewed commitment comes after Arsenal reached the UEFA Champions League final last season but lost to Paris Saint-Germain in a penalty shootout. That disappointment, alongside the demands of defending the Premier League title, leaves the manager with further challenges as he seeks to turn the club’s recent progress into sustained success.

For Arsenal supporters, the deal represents a clear statement of intent from the club’s leadership. Having ended a 22-year wait for the league championship, Arteta now has a fresh mandate to pursue more trophies, strengthen the squad and build a lasting legacy at the Emirates Stadium. His message that “this is only the beginning” captures the ambition surrounding a new chapter in Arsenal’s modern history.
