2027: Ex-PDP, ADC Reps Aspirants Back Tinubu, Promise to Mobilise for Re-election

Posted on October 16, 2026October 16, 2026 By Rextun boss No Comments on 2027: Ex-PDP, ADC Reps Aspirants Back Tinubu, Promise to Mobilise for Re-election

Former House of Representatives aspirants who previously aligned with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have declared support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, pledging to deploy their political structures towards securing victory for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

The group, operating under the Forum of House of Representatives Aspirants, made its position known during a visit to the APC national secretariat in Abuja, where its representatives met with the party’s National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, on Thursday, October 15, 2026. The development was reported by Nigerian media outlets on October 15 and 16.

According to reports, the forum’s National Coordinator, identified in reports as Mohammed Danjuma, led the delegation on the courtesy visit. The group said its decision to support Tinubu followed its assessment of the policies and achievements of the President’s administration since assuming office in May 2023.

The aspirants reportedly expressed their readiness to work towards Tinubu’s return to the presidency in 2027, alongside Vice President Kashim Shettima, while also supporting other APC candidates in the forthcoming elections. Their declaration signals a willingness by politicians who previously operated outside the ruling party to contribute to its electoral campaign.

As part of their mobilisation strategy, the group disclosed that it had produced a documentary intended to communicate the administration’s achievements to Nigerians. The documentary is expected to serve as a campaign tool for presenting the government’s record and persuading voters to support the President’s second-term ambition.

The forum also appealed to the APC leadership to support its members and accommodate their political interests within the party. The visit provided an opportunity for the aspirants to communicate their position directly to the ruling party’s national leadership as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.

Receiving the delegation, Yilwatda reportedly welcomed the group and defended the Tinubu administration’s performance, particularly its record on infrastructure and other development initiatives. He argued that the President had made progress in areas where previous administrations had struggled, expressing confidence in the APC’s capacity to present Tinubu to the electorate.

The declaration comes amid an increasingly active political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the APC working to strengthen its support base while opposition parties pursue alliances and strategies to challenge the incumbent President. The ADC, in particular, has featured prominently in discussions about building a broad opposition coalition capable of mounting a serious challenge to the ruling party.

The move is politically notable because the aspirants’ support for Tinubu cuts across previous party affiliations. However, their endorsement should not automatically be interpreted as a formal decision by either the PDP or the ADC to support the President. The declaration, as reported, represents the position of the aspirants’ forum and does not establish that the two parties have changed their official political stance.

With the 2027 elections approaching, the forum’s pledge will ultimately be measured by its ability to translate its stated support into effective grassroots mobilisation and votes. Whether the group can persuade its former political associates and wider sections of the electorate to back Tinubu remains to be seen as the campaign season develops.
