After suffering a muscular injury earlier this week, midfielder Thomas Partey of Arsenal is anticipated to miss several weeks of action, according to manager Mikel Arteta.
Due to the setback, the Ghanaian international was left out of the matchday squad for Tuesday night’s Champions League match against Sevilla.
After today’s press conference, Arteta disclosed that Partey had a muscle injury after the final ball kick during practise before the Sevilla match.
The Spanish strategist continued, saying that although the club is unsure of the severity of the injury, he should be sidelined for a few weeks at the very least. More scans are planned for him today.

“He’s got a muscle injury and we expect him to be out for a few weeks,” he stated .
He has further scans today, so we’re not sure how bad it is. He entered the training area with the ball’s final kick.
Prior to the match against Manchester United, Partey suffered a groin injury, despite being an obvious starter at the start of the season. His return was limited to the match against Manchester City.
It was hoped that he would be able to make a comeback to the starting lineup in Seville after missing the Chelsea draw, but he has now sustained another injury that will keep him out of action for some time.
The revelation is a serious setback for the Gunners in the long run. Declan Rice has recently been asked to play as Jorginho’s number six, allowing him to take on a creative centre midfield role.
As usual, the Italian has been effective with distribution, but he has a tendency to lose possession in unforeseen circumstances. Partey doesn’t often perform this in the same capacity.
How long the €35 million star will be out of commission is a mystery. Arsenal cannot afford for him to miss several months of play. It might compel them to invest in an additional defensive midfield player.
